President Richard Nixon's Western White House

This house in San Clemente was once Richard Nixon's Western White House, the place where he conducted affairs of state and met everyone from Henry Kissinger to leaders such as Soviet Premier Leonid Brezhnev and South Vietnamese leader Nguyen Van Thieu.

When Nixon resigned in 1974, leaving Washington with that famous wave before lifting off, La Casa Pacifica became his permanent home where he wrote his memoirs.

La Casa Pacifica is referred as “the most significant oceanfront estate in Southern California”. It is comprised of two parcels totaling 5.45 acres with 480 lineal feet of beachfront. Featured three times in Architectural Digest, the Spanish Colonial Revival architecture masterfully balances elegance with a touch of whimsy. The gleaming white structures contrast perfectly against the vibrant colors of the lush greenery that surrounds them. Stands of palms and Monterey Cypress sway in the breezes, connected by expanses of emerald lawns and impeccably kept seaside gardens. The completely walled compound affords panoramic views of the ocean, islands, and sunsets from its preferred elevation. There are approximately 15,000 square feet among all the structures on the property, which include a restored and modernized ca. 1927 main residence of approx. 9,000 square feet; an entertaining pavilion; a two-bedroom guest house; a pool; a lighted N/S tennis court; staff buildings; and a private well. San Clemente is renown for the ‘most idyllic climate in the world and is easily accessible to Newport Beach, Los Angeles and the best of Southern California’s amenities.
